A Cultural and Spiritual Gem of Kasaragod
Shree Ananthapadmanabha Swamy Lake Temple, located in Ananthapura, Kasaragod, is the only lake temple in Kerala. Built in the 9th century, it is regarded as the original seat (Moolasthanam) of Lord Ananthapadmanabha.
The temple is situated at the center of a two-acre lake, fed by a natural spring that remains full year-round. Its traditional Kerala-style architecture features intricate wood carvings of the Dashavatara (ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu).
The temple is home to Babiya, a vegetarian crocodile that feeds on temple prasad. This rare phenomenon enhances the temple’s mystique and spiritual aura.
